About Kat

Kat James (she/her) is a drone consultant, creator, coach, and educator based in Nairobi, Kenya. Her work seeks to elevate and amplify the impact of social good initiatives through the use of drone technology and spatial data.

Kat has worked at the intersection of global health and emerging technologies for the past decade. Her career has taken her from designing a maternal health data dashboard for the Ministry of Health in Ghana to mapping thousands of villages in Liberia and Zambia to see how far women must travel to access reproductive healthcare services.

Today, Kat’s projects range from developing an M&E framework to evaluate drone service providers for the World Bank to working as a women’s inclusion consultant for the Drones Doing Good Alliance. She’s also given guest lectures for educational institutions such as Smith College’s Spatial Analysis Lab and Unicef’s African Drone and Data Academy, as well as served as a trainer for the International Center of Journalists’ Health Innovation Fellowship Program.

As a coach, Kat is passionate about helping clients land and navigate careers in the Tech for Good space. Kat believes in living life on purpose and loves helping clients design unconventional lives and career paths uniquely suited to their specific goals and values.
